Aoun: The maritime border demarcation negotiations with Israel should not be linked to preconditions

Washington-ALsharqiya, May 5: Lebanese President Michel Aoun said in a statement after the resumption of talks yesterday, Tuesday, that the American mediator requested that the negotiations be based on the border lines between Israel and Lebanon already submitted and registered with the United Nations, and this contradicts the Lebanese proposal and the principle of negotiation without preconditions. The statement clarified that Aoun gave his instructions to the negotiating delegation and stressed that the follow-up to negotiations is not linked to preconditions, but rather to the adoption of international law, which remains the basis for ensuring the continuation of negotiations to reach a fair and equitable solution.
