Uruguay-ALSHARQIYA June 25: Edinson Cavani scored his 52nd international goal on Thursday, giving Uruguay their first victory and qualifying for the quarter-finals of the Copa America, by beating Bolivia 2-0, which became the first team to leave the competition.
Despite his brilliance in most of the match, Bolivia goalkeeper Carlos Lamb was unlucky, as he opened the scoring for Uruguay by mistake in the 40th minute, to end the first half with a clean goal, before Cavani, the Manchester United star, finished the match with a powerful shot from the middle of the penalty area, after A pass from Facundo Torres (79).
Thus, Uruguay scored three points and raised its score to four in fourth place in the group, behind Chile (5), the third, after losing 2-0 to Paraguay (6), which became the second in the group behind Argentina (7), the leader.
As for Bolivia, by losing and gaining zero points, the group qualified for the quarter-finals and bottomed out the standings.
The tournament system allows troubled teams to qualify for the quarter-finals, with the first four out of five teams in each group reaching the quarter-finals.
