Civil defense crews in Gaza begin searching for dead under the rubble

Gaza - ALsharqiya 21 January: The Palestinian Civil Defense in Gaza said that the search is underway for thousands of Palestinians believed to be buried under the rubble, as residents of the Strip expressed their shock at the devastation inflicted on their areas after more than 15 months of war. Displaced people returning to the Bureij refugee camp described the scene as a devastating earthquake that obliterated the features of the area, with buildings flattened. Rebuilding Gaza after the war will require billions of dollars. A damage assessment issued by the United Nations showed that removing more than 50 million tons of rubble could take 21 years and cost up to $1.2 billion.
