Dutchman Koeman sacked as Barcelona coach

Spain-ALSHARQIYA October 28: Barcelona, the Spanish football club, announced the dismissal of Dutch coach Ronald Koeman after losing 1-0 against Rayo Vallecano on Wednesday.
"Barcelona has decided to relieve coach Ronald Koeman of the responsibility of coaching the first team," the club added in a statement. Club president Joan Laporta informed him of the decision after the loss to Rayo Vallecano, and Ronald Koeman will bid farewell to the team on Thursday.
Barcelona is ninth in the league with 15 points from ten matches, six points behind leaders Real Madrid, who defeated the Catalan team 2-1 at the Nou Camp on Sunday.
The Catalan team is in third place in Group E of the European Champions League after collecting three points from three matches, losing 3-0 zero in the first two matches against Bayern Munich and then Benfica.
Barcelona, the five-time European champion, failed to score in the first two matches in its Champions League group for the first time in its history.
Koeman, who played for six seasons with Barcelona, took charge in August 2020 while former president Josep Maria Bartomeu was present.
The current president of the club, Joan Laporta, has made it clear several times that Koeman is not his choice, and the relationship between Laporta and Koeman has been strained, and the Dutch coach issued a statement last month demanding that he get enough time to build the team after the departure of Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann, but this will not happen as the club will look for a replacement for the adult coach. He is 58 years old.
