France-ALSHARQIYA June 21 : The world celebrates on the twenty-first of June of each year the "World Music Day", because of its importance and strong connection to various civilizations, and its ability to bring peoples together.
The idea of "World Music Day" dates back to France, as it was first launched by the French Ministry of Culture on June 21, 1982.
June 21 was chosen to celebrate the music, as it often coincides with the summer solstice, and thus is one of the longest days of the year.
On this day every year, more than 123 countries around the world celebrate music, most notably France, Italy, Greece, Colombia, and other countries.
The festival aims to promote music under the slogan “Make Music.” It encourages amateur musicians to volunteer to play in the streets and public places, such as streets, hospitals and prisons. The principle of “freedom” is emphasized, as artists perform and organize concerts for free.
Various concerts are organized on a global scale, as well as conferences, festivals and music competitions, to exchange experiences in the field of music.
The UAE is widely celebrating this event, as today (Monday) is witnessing live musical performances and programs in 7 cultural and commercial sites in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain.
Dubai has also witnessed many concerts to celebrate this day, most notably those that are held at the "Dana Al Dunya" theaters.
