Nechirvan Barzani: ISIS represents a constant threat to the security and stability of Iraq

Kurdistan-ALSHARQIYA  May  17 : The President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, discussed with the US Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs, Joy Hood, efforts to defuse the crises between Baghdad and Erbil and the ongoing preparations for the upcoming October elections.
A statement by the Presidency of the region asserted that the two parties' views coincide with the fact that ISIS is a great and continuous threat to the security and stability of Iraq and the region, and that requires strengthening coordination between the Kurdish Peshmerga and the Iraqi forces.
The delegation accompanying the US official included the Acting Special Representative for Syria Affairs, Amy Katrona, and Zahra Bell, Director of Iraq and Syria Affairs at the National Security Council.
