Support to Beirut: The United Nations intends to provide urgent assistance

New York-ALSHARQIYA  August  7 : The United Nations intends to release nine million dollars to meet the urgent needs of Lebanon after the bloody explosion in Beirut, and to strengthen operations in the city's hospitals.
 UN Deputy Spokesman Farhan Haq said that the funds from the Lebanese Humanitarian Fund will be followed by additional funds from the United Nations Central Emergency Response Fund.
 He explained that the United Nations is conducting assessments of the damage and needs resulting from the massive explosion that occurred in the port of Beirut, and hopes to hold a meeting on Monday to inform 193 member states of the United Nations of the results and to launch an appeal for assistance to Lebanon.
