The end of the first reading of the proposed council elections law in Iraq

Baghdad-ALsharqiya, February 14: The Iraqi parliament completed, on Monday, the first reading of the draft law proposal for the third amendment to the provincial and district council elections law. Independent deputies in the Iraqi Parliament announced their rejection of the St. Lego electoral system and demanded the adoption of multiple constituencies in the provincial and district councils law. Representative Amer Abdul-Jabbar said in a joint press conference with a number of deputies that the multi-district system will represent each district in the provincial council, but canceling the constituencies and going to "St. Lego" with the title of provincial councils is categorically rejected.
