The UN Security Council rejects a draft resolution to extend the arms embargo on Iran

New York-ALsharqiya August 15: The UN Security Council rejected a draft resolution submitted by the United States to extend the arms embargo imposed on Iran, which expires in October.

And US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced that the UN Security Council had rejected a draft resolution submitted by the United States to extend the arms embargo imposed on Iran.

Only two of the 15 member states of the UN Security Council voted on the American text, which reveals the depth of the differences between the United States and its European allies since US President Donald Trump withdrew from the nuclear deal in May 2018.

"The failure of the Security Council to act decisively in defense of international peace and security cannot be justified," Pompeo said in a statement shortly before the council announced the vote.
