UEFA appoints Bjorn Kuipers to referee Euro 2020 final

London-ALSHARQIYA  July  9 : The European Football Association "UEFA" announced in an official statement, Thursday, the appointment of Dutch referee Bjorn Kuipers as a judge for the upcoming confrontation, which will bring together the England national team and its rival Italy, next Sunday, at the famous "Wembley" stadium.

"The UEFA Referees Committee has chosen the Dutchman, Bjorn Kuipers, to direct the final, which will bring Italy and England together at Wembley Stadium," a statement read by UEFA.

He continued, "Bjorn Kuipers, 48, has been an international referee since 2006, and he will be the first Dutch referee to take charge of the European Nations Cup final, and the seventh in all UEFA competitions."

He explained, "Bjorn Kuipers was a member of the referee team at the European Championship in 2012, the World Cup in Brazil 2014, in addition to Euro 2016 in France, and the World Cup in Russia 2018, and he supervised two matches in the group stage at Euro 2020."

The UEFA statement concluded: "Bjorn Kuipers supervised the management of the confrontation, in which the England team defeated Croatia in the group stage, and will be assisted by his compatriots Sander van Roykel and Erwin Zenstra, in addition to the Spaniard Carlos de Cerro Grande as fourth official.
